Best website builders for musicians in 2025 (and what I recommend)

Why your website builder actually matters

Let’s be honest, most musicians don’t want to think about “website builders.”
They just want a site that looks beautifulworks flawlessly, and helps them get booked.

But choosing the right platform isn’t a small decision. The wrong one can mean:

  • Your site loads slowly

  • Your videos break on mobile

  • Or updating anything feels like brain surgery

As a musician and web designer, I’ve tested nearly every popular builder out there, from Wix to SquarespaceWordPress, and now Framer (the one I use for all artist websites).

Here’s a breakdown of what’s out there, what actually works for musicians, and why I’ve fully moved to Framer.

1. Wix – the popular but clunky option

Wix is everywhere, and for good reason, it’s beginner friendly and has tons of templates.

Pros:
✅ Drag-and-drop interface
✅ Lots of templates and widgets
✅ Integrated booking and blog tools

Cons:
❌ Messy backend, once you start customizing, it becomes inconsistent
❌ Slow loading times (especially with video heavy pages)
❌ Design freedom often leads to chaos, too easy to make ugly websites

Verdict:
Wix is fine if you’re experimenting or just need a quick personal page.
But if you care about design quality and performance, it quickly becomes limiting.

2. Squarespace – the elegant classic

Squarespace has long been the go-to choice for creatives, and for good reason, it’s clean, reliable, and well known.

Pros:
✅ Beautiful templates
✅ Good photo and video integration
✅ Stable and secure hosting

Cons:
❌ Every Squarespace site looks the same
❌ Limited creative flexibility, great templates, but hard to make them truly yours
❌ Slightly dated editor compared to newer tools

Verdict:
Squarespace is great for photographers, writers, or artists who just want something simple and minimal.
But for musicians who want to stand out visually or integrate modern features (EPKs, video headers, etc.), it can feel restrictive.

3. WordPress – the powerful dinosaur

WordPress powers a huge portion of the internet. It’s flexible, customizable, and capable of anything but it’s also overkill for most musicians.

Pros:
✅ Unlimited customization (plugins, themes, integrations)
✅ SEO potential
✅ Control over everything

Cons:
❌ Requires maintenance, plugins, security, hosting
❌ Not user-friendly for updates
❌ Performance issues if not optimized

Verdict:
WordPress is like owning a race car: amazing if you know how to drive it, but stressful if you just want to get to your gig on time.

For 95% of musicians, it’s unnecessary complexity.

4. Framer – the modern choice for artists and performers

And then there’s Framer. The builder I now use for every musician website I design at KingsMedia.

Framer started as a tool for professional designers and developers, but in the last two years, it’s become a dream for creatives who want control and beauty without the tech headache.

Pros:
✅ Lightning-fast performance (built on React)
✅ Pixel-perfect visual design
✅ Easy animations and smooth scrolling
✅ Mobile-first by default
✅ No plugins or updates to manage
✅ SEO and analytics built in

Cons:
❌ Slight learning curve if you build yourself
❌ Fewer templates than Wix or Squarespace (but higher quality)

Verdict:
Framer is the sweet spot between design freedom and simplicity.
It gives you the polish of a custom-coded site without needing a developer.

That’s why I use it for every artist website I build.

Why I use Framer for every artist website

When I started KingsMedia, I wanted a platform that matched how musicians think — visually, emotionally, and intuitively.
Most builders felt like office software. Framer feels like art.

Here’s why it works so well for musicians:

🎨 Design without limits
I can make each site unique, no cookie-cutter templates. Every artist deserves their own visual identity.

⚡ Fast and smooth
Your concert videos, photos, and EPK load instantly. No lag, no waiting.

📱 Looks perfect on mobile
Most people will see your site on their phone. Framer’s mobile design is built-in, not an afterthought.

🧠 Smart structure
I can build sections for videos, press quotes, upcoming concerts, and contact — all easy to update later.

🔗 No maintenance
Once it’s live, you don’t need to touch plugins or updates. Everything runs securely in the background.

Framer is built for growth

Because Framer is SEO-friendly and integrates with analytics, your site isn’t just a digital business card, it’s a living portfolio that grows with your career.

You can easily add:

  • Blog posts

  • Concert listings

  • Shop pages for scores or merch

  • Mailing list signup forms

  • Newsletter integrations (Beehiiv, Substack, etc.)

All inside one simple dashboard.

Choose based on your goals

If you’re early in your career or need something fast, start with a simple landing page (I can build that for you in Framer).
If you’re more established and want a full-scale artist site, go with a multi-page Framer site, it’ll grow with you.

Whatever you do, make sure your website:

  • Loads quickly

  • Looks professional

  • Represents your artistry accurately

That’s what gets you booked, trusted, and remembered.
